"Pop Up Musical" is coming to La Crosse.

The Producing House, a Minneapolis-based producer, is teaming up with the Weber Center for the Performing Arts to present a limited run of the show from July 13-28 in the center's new Veterans Studio Theatre.

"Pop Up Musical" was first performed at the 2012 Minnesota Fringe Festival and then at the Jerome Hill Theater in St. Paul.

In the style of VH1's "Pop-Up Video" series (and perhaps even a bit of "Mystery Science Theatre 3000"), four vocalists present a variety show of Broadway musical hits, interspersed with informative "pop ups" throughout each number. As the cast delivers the songs with dramatic and vocal power, the audience will experience some facts, trivia, random commentary and general amusements presented on low-tech posters and colorful, slightly higher-tech screens.

The music includes gems such as "Luck Be a Lady," "Edelweiss" (because everyone loves "The Sound of Music"), and "Seasons of Love" (that one from "Rent!"), to name a few.

"Pop Up Musical" was written by the four members of the Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network: Jennifer Eckes, Judi Gronseth, Kevin Werner Hohlstein and Timm Holmly.

"Pop Up Musical" will be performed at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts on July 13-14, July 20-21, and July 26-28. Fridays and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. The July 28 performance will be at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17. For more information, visit www.thepopupmusical.com.
